Color in my Caravaggio

I’d like to discuss color, in depth. I have a lot I’d like to say on the matter and I’m working on putting it together in a way that may be somewhat informative.

In the mean time I’d like to share the colors I’m using in the Caravaggio painting. I’ll discuss the reasons behind these specific colors at a later date.

From right to left:

  • Gray (a premixture of Cremnitz White and Mars Black)
  • Cremnitz White (basic lead carbonate)
  • Light Yellow (a premixture of Cremnitz White and Mars Yellow)
  • Naples Yellow
  • Raw Sienna Deep
  • Cadmium Red Medium (Vermillioned)
  • Burnt Sienna
  • Raw Umber
  • Mars Black
